What is Thentic.com?
Thentic is a network of food and beverage producers, retailers, and restaurateurs who want to advance transparency, communication, and trust within their industry. Thentic members agree to openly share information about their practices and products, while discussing differing viewpoints in a respectful manner. Currently a business-only network, we aim to open this dialogue to consumers and the general public once the rules and decorum are well established.
How did we get here?
It all started on a walk through San Francisco's Ferry Plaza Farmers' Market in 2008, when David Renkert and his friends were debating which olive oil to buy. That simple question led to a day-long discussion of how people make decisions about the foods they choose to eat. Looking for answers online, we quickly realized that the Internet is full of lots of conflicting information, and it often comes from places other than the people who actually create the food! With Thentic, we want to change that.
